Caged animals

I've been away for a couple of days so the boys had to fend for themselves for longer than they're used to. Since Kingston is still beating up Ozzy we keep them separated when we're not home so they don't hurt each other. This is what Ryan found when he came home the other day after being out for quite some time...

Kingston did a little re-decorating and decided that the rug would look better in his pen...

Ozzy resumed his work on our entertainment unit that he started months ago...

...and did a little light reading

here's a closer look

I think we're all a lot happier that I'm back home now.

Leash coupler

I've been wanting to get a leash coupler since, well, since I started taking the boys on walks together. I've been taking them on walks together for about a month now and it was quite the chore. Kingston would always be trying to get at Ozzy and my hand would be so sore by the end of the walks. And trying to pick up after one of them did their business was near impossible. The coupler would give me a free hand and way more control of the boys. The boys need a little bit of time to get used to being a little bit coser togeter, but I love it! Here are the results.

Don't you love the shadows that pugs cast?

Look what else Kingston is doing! He's not a baby anymore!

More allergies

Lately we have been dealing with more allergies, and by "we" I mean Ozzy. This time the allergies are manifesting themselves in a different way than hives. Ozzy had been chewing at the base of his tail for some time, and we just assumed that he was taking care of his anal glands (we've dealt with this before). After a few days of this I noticed the base of his tail was getting quite red and his fur seemed to be thinning, so I decided to take a closer look. His tail was covered in numerous small cuts in various stages of healing!

(this shows one of his scabs)

I immediately thought that Kingston was the cause of these injuries because we catch him tugging on Ozzy's tail all the time. After a few more days of monitoring the situation we decided that Ozzy was actually doing this himself and immediately turned to Google to see if we could find the cause of his symptoms. After only a few clicks the diagnosis seemed to clearly be allergies (his eyes have also been more teary than usual) and Ozzy has been talking half of an antihistamine most mornings (we checked with the vet before giving him any medication).

Ozzy's poor runny eyes

It seems to be working pretty well and have found a wonderful way to get him to take the pill. The trick is a nice blob of peanut butter with the hot pink pill tucked nicely inside. Kingston loves pill-taking time in the morning too as he gets the remaining bits of peanut butter stuck to my fingers.

Monster pug?

The noises that sometimes come out of Kingston's mouth are hilarious! Ozzy never threw any hissy fitts like these. He sure knows how to get what he wants.

Nowhere to hide

It's official, Kingston is able to jump up onto the couch...

...and then down again.

Ozzy is no longer safe anywhere in the appartment.

The cottage (finally!)

I know, I know, I know...I have been a terribly lazy person these past couple of weeks and have put off updating the blog. So here it is, the much anticipated update.
We were lucky enough to spend a nice week up at the cottage, and the boys absolutely loved the freedom involved. We got lucky this year and we had mostly good weather while we were there. Here is how the boys liked to sun themselves...

Ozzy does it like a pug, while Kingston approaches it like a frog supposedly...

The boys both really enjoyed their new extracurricular activities which we introduced them to.

Ozzy loved to be sporty and took to the kayak like a pro...

While Kingston took on a more mellow sport (?) of cards.

Both boys enjoyed being around the boat this summer. While Kingston was a help with the lines...Ozzy preferred to wait inside the boat for it to take off.

All in all we had a great week and Kingston made sure that he even put in a little time cleaning so that we get invited back again next year!

Back soon!

Don't worry, we'll be up and posting again soon. We just got back from vacation and I have TONS of pictures to get organized. The boys have lots of stories to tell!
